In this revolutionary book, Adam Alter, a professor of psychology and marketing at NYU, tracks the rise of behavioral addiction, and explains why so many of today's products are irresistible. Half of us would rather suffer a broken bone than a broken phone, and Millennial kids spend so much time in front of screens that they struggle to interact with real, live humans. We obsess over our emails, Instagram likes, and Facebook feeds we binge on TV episodes and YouTube videos we work longer hours each year and we spend an average of three hours each day using our smartphones. Welcome to the age of behavioral addiction-an age in which half of the American population is addicted to at least one behavior. March to the Majority is not only about the past, but also about the challenges our nation faces today and offers principles for governing the American people.
Perhaps the worst misstep the movie commits is Veronika falling in love with an enigmatic mute who wanders around the hospital. It's all one perpetual mental institution cliche, from the immeasurably crazier roommate to the wise but still crazy senior patient to the callous, misunderstood psychologist (who, I have to say, is embarrassingly terrible). There's nothing here that fucking Girl Interrupted didn't do fifty times better. This may not have been a problem, but in conjunction with the overwhelmingly bad script, everything falls apart in a matter of minutes. She seems to be trying, but her limited range sort of puts a muzzle on the darkness of her situation. She really isn't even the worst part of this movie her performance is essentially a reprisal of Bitchy Buffy from the beginning of Season 2, only with a few more ~deep insights~ about the nature of the world. I'm sure she's gotten enough work to pay the bills, but between totally unilluminating dreck like this and acting across from a CGI dog like in Scooby Doo, she must be completely miserable in her career. It seems a little unsporting to kick this one while it's down, because it's been floating around in release limbo for God knows how long, and I really have been pulling for Gellar's success. Is it so much to ask that Sarah Michelle Gellar should get one decent movie role? When The Grudge is the highlight of your post-Buffy career, there is something seriously wrong. Morgan is introduced wearing an Iron Man helmet and glove, like the kid Tony rescued from Hammer Drones in Iron Man 2 ( retconned to be a young Peter Parker). They have a little girl, but still name her Morgan. In Avengers: Infinity War, Tony dreamed that he and Pepper had a kid, and that they named him Morgan after Pepper's eccentric uncle." Maybe I should take a page out of Barton's book and build Pepper a farm," he suggested, " hope nobody blows it up." It turns out he got that farm life after all. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Tony reflected on his hopes for the future.Tony's long diatribe against Steve Rogers contains a number of callbacks to Avengers: Age of Ultron." Hey, Miss Potts" - it's amusing to see Tony revert to this name for Pepper, which he hasn't used since Iron Man.In the scene where Tony and Nebula are working on the Benatar, Tony is wearing the same shirt he wore in the cave in Iron Man." Don't post this on social media" calls back to Iron Man, while " It's always you" references Iron Man 2. Tony Stark's recorded message for Pepper contains a couple of verbal nods. I think it's also probably the most accessible, as in it's the first book of 25 that my girlfriend has decided to read on her own.
